Old Discarded Footwear Recycling Project

100% Eco-friendly Recycling- Did you know? Footwear alone contributes to around one-fifth (20%) to the apparel industry’s climate impact. We generate 1.4% of our total emissions from shoes on a global scale. * We eco-friendly dispose your Old Discarded Footwears (ODFs) following a complicated segregation process of separating out each and every part of footwear into recyclable and non-recyclable components. The recyclable part of footwear waste is then send to recyclers and non-recyclable part is then send to cement kilns to replace non-renewable fuel to manufacture cement. Till now we have diverted and recycled 600 Tons of footwear waste.

Textile Value Chain Building Project

Increasing the life of the Old Discarded cloths- We collect old reusable cloths from citizens and segregate them at our facility based on the quality and types of cloths. After different categorization, our team is trying to build different value chains to increase the life of the collected cloths.

Under this program, we are able to bring awareness among residents for textile disposal, provide livelihood to more Safai Sathis, increase usability period of old cloths and also trying to explore ways to eco-friendly handle non reusable cloths like stained cloths, undergarments, socks etc.

Change the world with us- Our back to school program is not only focused on students but also the faculty and the housekeeping staff, with the aim to start a ripple effect of knowledge. For this initiative, we partner with the schools and other such educational institutions to ensure that they learn the basics of waste management and create awareness in the community about the environmental and health impact of mismanagement of waste.

Safai Sathis Kids’ Education Program

Enlightening the Young Minds- Towards the provision of value-based education to the children of our Safai Sathis, the Balvadi Program is aiming to make a difference in their lives. The program is being expanded in an attempt to enroll more poor children and give them equal rights to study and equal opportunities to explore their interests. Under this program, we cover their regular school courses and also conduct extra-curricular activities.
You can also be a part of this initiative and support a child education.

Our Partners

Safai Sathis Social Financial Inclusion Program

Empowering our Heroes- As Safai Sathis are uneducated and lacks basic information, so, we initiated a program with our Safai Sathis coordinators to bring social and financial literacy among Safai Sathis. We at Aasra strive to support our safai sathis by improving their understanding of financial procedures and assist them in getting enrolled in different government welfare schemes.

Our Partners

Green Soldiers

Champions of Resource Recovery- Green soldiers are the safai saathis working relentlessly to recover waste, especially during the lockdown. These soldiers went to doorstep to doorstep collecting waste and bringing it back to our recollecting chain. They risked their life during the deadly pandemic and helped to divert the waste.

Aasra is always indebted to our green soldiers who work on daily wages and face the challenges of infections and diseases every day. Under this program, we gave respect to our frontlines by giving them health kits. We are working our best to provide them with basic amenities and with your help we can make their lives better.

Our Partners

One Time Meal Programme

Food on the Plate, Kindness in Hearts- By providing them with a nutritious meal, which may be their only source of sustenance for the day. One Time Meal Programme is an initiative to provide healthy, dignified and substantial food alleviating hunger and improving their overall health. To address homelessness in the long run, however, more comprehensive solutions are necessary, and we are striving to achieve this as aggressively as possible.

Under this process, we are also working on developing a sense of belongingness among homeless individual Safai Sathis. These people mostly have traumatized stories and hardly express their feelings to anyone. We at Aasra helps them to create a space and build a close knitted community where they talk, laugh and share their emotion with each other.
